Watertight Fiberglass Tank Sumps

Overview
Franklin's watertight fiberglass tank sump is built in two pieces: an octagonal base that goes onto the tank first and a riser that is added last. With the riser out of the way, installers can run pipework into the base without climbing into a confined space. Eight flat panels on the base and riser give freedom in where pipe entries are placed.
The riser locks to the base through an integrated fill channel. The crew mixes an epoxy slurry, pours it into the channel and sets the riser in place, with no fiberglass seam work at that joint. The sump is supplied 60" high and can be cut down in the field to 34" for shallow-buried tanks and retrofits.
The lid is what keeps water out. It is injection-moulded HDPE weighing about 21 lb, with a gasket that seals against the side of the sump wall so debris cannot collect on the seal. A domed, treaded top sheds water and resists warping, three latches show at a glance that it is seated, and two stainless handles are surface-mounted with no penetrations. The sump fits under any 36" manway and leaves a 31" clear opening. Collar-mount versions sit on Franklin fiberglass tank sump collars made for 8' to 11' diameter tanks, and enclosed-bottom versions are also offered. - How is the riser fixed to the base?
- With a pour-in-place epoxy slurry poured into the base's fill channel. One slurry kit (602366924) is needed per sump, and no fiberglass seam work is required at that joint.
- Can the sump height be reduced on site?
- Yes. The standard height is 60" and it can be cut in the field down to 34".
- Which tanks do the collars suit?
- Collars are made in 42" and 48" sizes for 8', 9', 10' and 11' diameter tanks, and can be fitted at the tank factory or retrofitted on site.
