Franklin Fueling Systems PetroTite PE DC4830SB tank chamber

Overview

The PetroTite PE family gives an underground tank a dry, enclosed chamber over its manway, where the submersible pump, gauge probe and pipe connections sit. Franklin makes it in two forms. The DC4830SB is a 1.2 x 1.2 m two-piece chamber whose riser bolts onto the base, and the DC4830SBG gasket kit for the base and waist joints comes with it. The PetroTite PE Fusion models (LA-002-001 deep and LA-002-002 shallow) replace that bolted joint with an electrofusion weld.

On the fusion versions the riser is welded to the base with UPP electrofusion equipment in roughly six minutes. Once cooled, base and riser are a single homogeneous part with no bolt holes and no foam gaskets, which removes the joint most likely to let groundwater in. Either version can be vacuum tested at its critical points before the excavation is backfilled.

Both chambers accept every UPP electrofusion entry seal, so pipework, entries and chamber wall can be welded into one continuous polyethylene system. The base suits square tank collars up to 970 mm (38.2") or round collars up to 1150 mm (45.3"). The two-piece build leaves the tank top open while the pipework goes in and keeps shipping volume low. Apex supplies and installs PetroTite chambers on new tanks and retrofits in Lebanon.

Questions

PetroTite® PE Tank Chambers: common questions

What is the difference between PetroTite PE and PetroTite PE Fusion?
The standard DC4830SB joins the riser to the base with bolts and a supplied gasket kit. The Fusion models weld the riser to the base by electrofusion, so the finished chamber has no mechanical joint at that point.
Which tank collars does the chamber base fit?
Franklin specifies square collars up to 970 mm (38.2") and round collars up to 1150 mm (45.3").
Can the chamber be tested before backfilling?
Yes. Both versions are vacuum testable, so the chamber and its entry seals can be checked for leaks before the hole is closed.
