Overview

Every pipe or conduit that passes through a sump wall is a potential water path, and mechanical entry boots are the standard way to seal it without welding. Franklin's APT flexible entry boots are two-piece nitrile rubber boots clamped with stainless steel studs, corrosion-resistant nuts and backing rings. Sizes run from ½" to 4" and match the pipe size, and a single wall boot becomes a double wall boot by removing its insert. They also suit rigid pipe and electrical conduit, work on round sumps of 36" diameter and up, and can be serviced from inside the sump without excavation. Ducted versions from 1½" to 2½" take APT DCT-400 corrugated ducting, including air-testable models.

Bulkhead boots enlarge the gasket area against the sump wall and need only one drilled hole. Rigid entry boots for APT XP flexible pipe remove exposed rubber altogether: the glass-filled nylon body clamps to a single wall sump through one 5" hole by tightening with a spanner wrench (1½", 1¾" and 2" sizes, for flat or round surfaces), while double wall rigid boots bond to double wall fiberglass sumps with the supplied adhesive through one 3¾" hole. Electrical conduit rigid boots need a 2.75" hole.

For UPP pipework, PetroSeal boots cover 50 to 160 mm: the PS3 for 50, 63 and 75 mm and the PS6 for 90, 110 and 160 mm, held with band clips and a backing ring. Apex supplies and fits the right boot for each sump and pipe system.

Questions

APT® and PetroSeal Mechanical Entry Boots: common questions

Can a flexible entry boot be replaced without digging up the sump?
Yes. APT flexible entry boots are serviced from inside the sump, so no excavation is needed.
Which PetroSeal boot fits 75 mm UPP pipe?
The PS3, which covers 50, 63 and 75 mm. For 75 mm the SS4 band clip must be ordered as well.
How many holes does a rigid entry boot need?
Only one: a 5" hole for single wall rigid boots, 3¾" for double wall rigid boots and 2.75" for electrical conduit rigid boots.
