Franklin Fueling Systems UPP 305-125-110-TP electrofusion entry seal

Overview

Electrofusion entry seals take the rubber out of the sump entry. The seal is welded to the wall of a polyethylene chamber or sump and becomes part of it, and UPP primary or secondary pipe, conduit or duct is then electrofused to the seal. The result is one homogeneous structure of sump, seal and pipe, with no bolt holes, band clamps or rubber seals left to age, and Franklin notes that the welded seals also reinforce the sump wall. The 304, 305 and 308 seals are fully vacuum and pressure testable.

Sizes follow the pipe range. The 302-040 takes 40 mm secondary pipe, with the 32 mm primary passing through it. The 304 Series covers 50, 63, 90 and 110 mm single or double wall pipe, with or without a test port, and with an integrated coupler option (304-110-EIF). The 305 is a 5" seal for 50, 63 and 75 mm with seal boot kits, plus 125/110 mm and electrical-entry versions. The 308 is an 8" large-access seal for 90, 110 and 160 mm, with a rubber-boot version for 50 to 75 mm.

For other containment materials, UPP electrofusion fiberglass entry boots in 2", 3" and 4" bond to fiberglass sump walls up to 26.5 mm thick with an adhesive kit and are vacuum and pressure testable once fitted. Steel electrofusion entry seals (SEB series) weld to steel chambers and dispenser containment, have a yellow PE sleeve for corrosion protection and are DIBt approved. Apex installs these seals with its own UPP electrofusion equipment.

Questions

UPP® Electrofusion Entry Seals: common questions

How is an electrofusion entry seal different from a rubber boot?
It is welded to the sump wall and the UPP pipe is welded to it, so there are no rubber seals, bolts or clamps. After installation the seal is part of the sump.
Can electrofusion seals be used on fiberglass or steel sumps?
Yes. UPP electrofusion fiberglass entry boots bond to fiberglass sump walls up to 26.5 mm thick, and SEB steel electrofusion entry seals weld to steel containment.
Can the seals be tested?
The 304, 305 and 308 Series are fully vacuum and pressure testable, and test port versions are available.
