Corrosion Control™ Corrosion Detection Sensor
A sacrificial screen in the ullage that tells the EVO when corrosion starts

Overview
Corrosion in the vapour space above the fuel is hard to see until parts start failing. The Corrosion Detection Sensor (FMP-CDS-U) gives an early warning. It hangs in the tank ullage and carries a sacrificial metal screen that is exposed to the same atmosphere as the tank equipment. When that screen begins to corrode, the sensor reports it.
The sensor is intrinsically safe and connects with an included quick-disconnect cable. On EVO™ 600 and 6000 consoles it uses a TS-PRB probe module or the FMP-UDP9 Universal Device Protocol module; on EVO™ 200 and 400 it uses any intrinsically safe channel. Franklin's datasheet also lists EVO 550 and 5000 through the probe module. The console shows a corrosion index level and can be programmed with three alarms: Corrosive Environment Present, Corrosion Sensor Sample Error and Corrosion Sample Needs Replacement.
Once the screen has corroded, it is removed and replaced, so the sensor body stays in service. Replacement screens are sold singly or in packs of ten, and a Unistrut® mounting kit is available. The sensor works in all blends of gasoline, diesel and ethanol, which makes it useful for gasoline tanks as well as diesel. On existing sites the Multiplexing Sensor Hub™ can bring it onto the console over existing cable. Apex adds the sensor to EVO installations in Lebanon so operators see corrosion trends before equipment fails.
