Corrosion Control™ Advanced Protection Pumps
Factory-coated submersible pumps with stainless steel riser and fasteners

Overview
In diesel tanks with microbial growth, the acetic byproducts attack the submersible pump itself: cast heads, bolts and the column pipe can corrode far faster than expected. Advanced Protection is Franklin's factory option to harden the pump against this, and it is available on the biofuel compatible STPAG fixed speed and IST variable speed submersible turbine pumps.
The exterior cast surfaces receive powder-coated and E-coated finishes. The fasteners, riser, variable length column pipe and coupler are all stainless steel. Pumps built this way are UL and cUL listed and remain compatible with alcohol-gasoline blends.
Advanced Protection is specified through the pump model number, which follows the pattern STP XXXXX Y-A-B. The letters AP in the options field add the protection package, and other letters add items such as a floating suction adapter, an intake filter screen, the MagShell™ expanded shell or a specific check valve. Y sets the motor, A the variable length range, and B the riser length in inches. Franklin publishes a 50 Hz datasheet with single and three phase motors from 3/4 hp to 2 hp and 2 hp and 4 hp variable speed models, and riser lengths from 178 mm to 1524 mm. Apex orders Advanced Protection pumps for diesel tanks in Lebanon where corrosion has already been found, or on new builds where it is expected.
