Franklin Fueling Systems TS-LLD line leak detector

Overview

The TS-LLD (Line Sentinel) is a single-line electronic leak detector that drops into the leak detector port of a new or existing submersible pump housing, where a mechanical leak detector would otherwise sit. It uses Franklin's patented flow-based measurement rather than pressure decay, testing the line at full pump pressure with a sensitive volumetric flow sensor. It runs its tests continuously and checks its own operation, and its small console shows line status on LEDs.

After each dispense the detector runs the 3.0 gph gross test, and it also runs the 0.2 gph test every month and the 0.1 gph test every year. It stops the pump if a leak is found. It can track the days since the last passing 0.2 gph test. Franklin states third-party certification with a 100% probability of detection and a 0% probability of false alarm. Because it measures flow, it avoids the slow-flow problems of mechanical detectors and stays reliable as line temperatures change.

There is one trade-off. The built-in in-line check valve causes a pressure drop that lowers the pump's total flow, so Franklin does not recommend the TS-LLD where 10 gpm must be reached or where more than 4 nozzles are often open at once. A pressure-based AUTO-LEARN® system is the better fit there. The TS-LLD can work alone or with INCON Tank Sentinel® consoles and suits rigid, fiberglass and flexible pipe.

Apex supplies and installs TS-LLD detectors in Lebanon as a low-cost retrofit for single-line sites.

Questions

TS-LLD Line Leak Detector: common questions

Where is the TS-LLD not recommended?
Franklin advises against it where a flow of 10 gpm is essential or where more than 4 nozzles are often open at once, because its check valve reduces pump flow.
How many lines does one TS-LLD cover?
One. Each pressurised line needs its own detector.
Does it need a tank gauge?
No. It works stand-alone, and it can also interface with INCON Tank Sentinel® consoles.
