Franklin EVO electronic line leak detection on an EVO console

Overview

Where a site already runs an EVO™ 600 or EVO™ 6000, line leak detection can live inside the tank gauge rather than in a separate box. The TS-ELLD software option, or TS-ELLD-G for generator lines, works with FMP-LS500 kits of 1 to 4 pressure transducers. The console needs TS-ACI and TS-420IB modules, plus a TS-RLY relay module unless the pumps are controlled through the Turbine Pump Interface™ with Franklin intelligent pump controllers.

As with the stand-alone kit, the transducer sits in the leak detector port of the pump manifold and AUTO-LEARN® records each line's pressure decay against a calibrated leak. The console then runs gross 3 gph (11 lph) tests after each dispense cycle or 45 minutes and 0.2 gph and 0.1 gph precision tests, with SLLD for constant-flow sites. For generator applications the gross leak shutdown can be disabled so emergency power is not lost.

Franklin's datasheet sets clear limits. Minimum pump-off pressure is 15 psi for gross tests, 17.5 psi for monthly tests, 22.5 psi for annual tests and 20 psi for learning. It also lists the pipe lengths and line volumes that can be tested for UPP®, rigid or hybrid, and APT® pipework at each diameter, which helps when planning long or mixed runs.

Apex supplies, installs and services EVO™ ELLD in Lebanon and checks pump pressures and line volumes before commissioning.

Key features

  • TS-ELLD software option, or TS-ELLD-G for generator lines

Questions

EVO™ Electronic Line Leak Detection (ELLD): common questions

Which consoles support ELLD?
The integrated ELLD software option described here is for the EVO™ 600 and EVO™ 6000. The EVO™ 400 and EVO™ ONE have their own ELLD options, and EVO™ LLD covers sites with no EVO™ console.
Is a relay module always required?
No. The TS-RLY module is not needed when the pumps are controlled over the Turbine Pump Interface™ with Franklin Electric intelligent pump controllers.
Can ELLD be used on a generator line?
Yes. The TS-ELLD-G option lets the gross leak shutdown be disabled so a generator keeps its fuel supply.
