FE PETRO 4 Hp variable speed submersible turbine pump by Franklin Fueling Systems

Overview

The 4 Hp variable speed FE PETRO is Franklin's highest-flow 4" pump; fitted with MagShell, Franklin says it delivers the highest flow rate of any single 4" submersible pump on the market. Maximum flow is 530 lpm (140 gpm), and it holds a constant 10 gpm (38 lpm) at up to 12 fuelling positions at the same time, which is why it is chosen for high-volume stations and fast-flow diesel lanes.

The two-stage pump is driven by a variable frequency controller that raises and lowers speed with demand. That gives faster fills at peak hours and lower energy use in quiet hours, and because pressure ramps up and down instead of switching, hydraulic hammer and wear on dispensers and piping are reduced and nozzles are easier to squeeze. Operating pressure is set on the controller between 1.65 and 2.90 bar deadhead. Control is based on the motor's power draw, so no pressure transducer or special wiring is installed.

4 Hp models need a three-phase supply to the EcoVFC (360-440 VAC, 50 Hz); maximum motor draw is 15 A and controller line draw 20 A. They are built in three variable lengths and in STP or IST form, the IST adding compatibility with up to 85% ethanol and with biodiesel. Two pumps can be manifolded in master-slave or alternating arrangements for extra capacity and redundancy. Apex supplies, installs and services 4 Hp variable speed systems.

Questions

FE PETRO® 4 Hp Variable Speed Pumps: common questions

How many fuelling positions can one 4 Hp pump serve?
Franklin rates it for a constant 10 gpm (38 lpm) at up to 12 fuelling positions operating simultaneously.
What power supply does the 4 Hp pump need?
4 Hp models require the EcoVFC controller with a three-phase incoming supply of 360-440 VAC, 50 Hz.
Does a variable speed system need a pressure transducer?
No. The controller determines demand from the pump motor's power consumption, so no transducer or special wiring is required.
