Hydrostatic Sensors (HIS, UHS)
Leak monitoring for brine-filled tanks and liquid-filled double-wall sumps

Overview
Some double-wall tanks and sumps are not dry between the walls. Instead, the interstitial space is filled with brine or another monitoring liquid. If either wall fails, the level of that liquid changes, and Franklin's hydrostatic sensors are there to catch it.
The HIS suits virtually all fiberglass double-wall tanks set up for hydrostatic monitoring, where the interstice holds brine. It is lowered to the bottom of the brine reservoir so that the normal brine level sits about halfway up the sensor. Inside, a microcomputer tracks the liquid at several levels and reports high or low brine through Franklin's fail-safe digital link. Its polyester, nitrile and epoxy build is compatible with all types of brine. It comes in 11" (FMP-HIS-U) and 21" (FMP-HIS-XL-U) lengths, and a TSP-KV4 vented 4" riser cap is included.
The UHS is the simpler partner for liquid-filled double-wall containment sumps. It is a single float switch mounted upright where it is normally submerged, and it alarms when the monitoring liquid falls below its base. Franklin's HM-KIT supplies the flexible brine tube, housing, clamp, cap and hardware for the installation. For older S940 systems, a TSP-UHS version is listed.
Apex supplies, installs and tests HIS and UHS sensors in Lebanon on hydrostatically monitored tanks and sumps.

Questions
Hydrostatic Sensors (HIS, UHS): common questions
- Where should the HIS sit in the brine reservoir?
- On the bottom of the reservoir, with the normal brine level about halfway up the sensor.
- When does the UHS alarm?
- When the monitoring liquid drops below the bottom of the sensor, which signals a loss of liquid from the double-wall sump.
- Is the riser cap included with the HIS?
- Yes. One TSP-KV4 vented 4" riser cap comes with each HIS or HIS-XL sensor.
