HLS High Level Sensor
Adjustable float-switch overfill sensor for storage tanks

Overview
The HLS is Franklin's in-tank overfill switch. It tells the tank gauge that liquid has reached a set high level, which the console can use to trigger an external overfill alarm or other actions during a delivery. Because the trip point is adjustable over many heights, one sensor type suits many tank sizes and fill limits.
The sensing method is simple and robust. A reed switch sits inside the sensor body, and a light float carrying small magnets slides along the shaft below it. When liquid reaches the sensor, the float rises, the magnets close the reed switch and the gauge records a high level. The body is made of chemical-resistant materials, so it works with most liquids. A stainless steel version is listed for tanks holding alternative fuels.
The output is a normally closed, supervised circuit. A broken wire or failed connection reads the same as an alarm, so faults cannot go unnoticed. Each sensor comes with 5 ft of jacketed cable. Franklin lists 15" and 30" lengths in standard and stainless steel versions. The HLS connects to the EVO™ 550/5000 and EVO™ 600/6000 through a 2-wire or 3-wire sensor module, and it cannot be used on the UDP or probe modules.
Apex supplies and installs HLS sensors in Lebanon, usually together with a TS-RA1 or TS-RA2 overfill alarm at the fill point.

Questions
HLS High Level Sensor: common questions
- What happens if the HLS cable is cut?
- The output is a normally closed supervised circuit, so a broken wire is detected by the gauge instead of going unnoticed.
- Which EVO™ consoles support the HLS?
- The EVO™ 550/5000 and EVO™ 600/6000, wired to a 2-wire or 3-wire sensor module.
- Is there a version for alternative fuels?
- Yes. The TSP-HLS-15/SS and TSP-HLS-30/SS are stainless steel models for tanks containing alternative fuels.
