PV-ZERO™ P/V Vent

Liquid-trap tank venting with no poppets, springs or gaskets

Franklin Fueling Systems PV-ZERO pressure vacuum vent valve

Overview

Mechanical P/V vents depend on poppets, springs and gaskets, and over time dirt and wear on those parts open a leak path. The EBW® brand PV-ZERO takes a different approach. Its patented design uses a liquid trap: tank vapour pressure pushes against a liquid seal, and the seal gives way in one direction to relieve positive pressure and in the other to admit air under vacuum. With no moving sealing parts there is nothing to stick, and Franklin rates it as having no leak rate.

The vent is built entirely from stainless steel, which makes it compatible with both gasoline and E85. It weighs 37.65 lbs, with a body 27.92" high and 5.13" wide, so it fits neatly on a standard vent stack without bulky supports.

A practical advantage is where the work happens. The PV-ZERO is installed, serviced and tested from ground level, so contractors do not need ladders or a boom truck to reach the top of a vent stack. It carries a UL 842 listing and is CARB Stage I EVR approved under VR-101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 301 and 302 for gasoline and E85. Franklin warns of a four to eight week lead time, so Apex plans orders for Lebanese projects around that window.

Questions

PV-ZERO™ P/V Vent: common questions

How does the PV-ZERO relieve pressure without a poppet?
It uses a patented liquid trap. Tank vapour pressure acts on the liquid seal, which allows relief under both positive pressure and vacuum.
Can it be used on E85 tanks?
Yes. The stainless steel design is compatible with gasoline and E85, and its CARB approvals cover both.
How long does it take to get?
Franklin states it may need a four to eight week lead time.
