Franklin Fueling Systems EBW angle check valve

Overview

Suction systems, where the pump sits inside the dispenser and draws fuel up from the tank, only work while the line stays full. If fuel drains back between sales, the pump loses prime and the next customer waits. EBW® check and foot valves hold that column of fuel in place, and Franklin offers one for each point on the line.

At the bottom of the suction pipe sits a brass foot valve with a 24 mesh screen and metal-to-metal seating, in single or double poppet form from ½" to 2". The 320 foot valve extractor lets the 1½" foot valves be pulled out of the tank for cleaning, and it is gasket sealed so air is not drawn in at the top fitting. At the tank top, angle check valves (zinc plated cast iron body, brass seat and poppet) hold prime where access is easy. Directly under the pumping unit, brass vertical check valves come in single and double poppet versions, while brass under pump/in-line check valves can also hold product at a submersible pump outlet, with pressure relief models to handle thermal expansion. Union check valves fit into an existing union as a temporary fix when another valve has failed.

The 325 product line isolation valve is different: it seals the tank off from the line so precision line tests can be run without breaking pipe connections. It works on suction and submersible systems and is rated to 50 psi. Apex stocks these valves for servicing older suction sites across Lebanon.

Questions

EBW® Check, Foot and Isolation Valves: common questions

What is the difference between single and double poppet foot valves?
Single poppet valves suit locations with easy access. Double poppet valves give twice the protection against losing prime.
Can a foot valve be removed without digging?
Yes, when it is installed with the 320 foot valve extractor, which is designed for the 1½" foot valves and lets them be pulled out for cleaning or service.
What does the 325 isolation valve do?
It seals the tank off from the product line so precision line testing can be done without breaking pipe connections. It is rated to 50 psi.
