Overview

SMARTWELD is the connected version of NUPI's suitcase welder. Instead of keeping records only in the machine, it pairs with the free NupiWeldingApp on a smartphone or tablet. In smartphone control mode the welder creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot, the app connects to it and sends the welding and pressure test commands, and the machine keypad is locked until the unit is restarted in local mode.

The app replaces paper job sheets. The operator is identified by the phone's fingerprint reader, site details are entered once, and each fitting is captured by scanning its barcode or QR code with the phone camera. Every weld is tagged with the phone's GPS position, so the finished job can be mapped joint by joint. Optional traceability scans record the individual products used in each weld. Weld and test data move from the machine to the app and then to cloud storage at nupiweldingcloud.com, where anyone with the password can review them. The app also downloads user and maintenance manuals in all available languages.

Two sizes are offered: 00SMARTWELD (19SMARTWELD) for 20 to 400 mm and 00SMARTWELDL (19SMARTWELDLIGHT) for 20 to 160 mm, both in the waterproof Peli case. Apex supplies SMARTWELD in Lebanon and can help contractors set up the app for client handover records.
