Overview
This is NUPI's workshop and site welding unit in an open frame, built in three capacities: 00E9001L for fittings up to 160 mm, 00E9001 up to 630 mm and 00E9001HW up to 1000 mm (NUPI also lists the first two under the SMARTFLEX codes 19SSEL8404L and 19SSEL8404). All three read welding parameters from the fitting barcode to ISO 13950, with manual entry of time and voltage as a fallback, and adjust the welding time to the ambient temperature measured by an on-board sensor.
The difference from a simple welder is the second operating mode. Besides welding, the unit records pressure or vacuum tests, with eight test memories of 500 parameters each, alongside a memory of 10,000 welds. Welding and test reports can be exported with the optional 00USBKEY, GPS coordinates added with the 00GPS module, and tests run with the 00SENS pressure test unit. A graphic 480 x 278 pixel display guides the operator, and the menus run in English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Dutch.
The full-size unit suits contractors who handle large-diameter pipe as well as forecourt lines, while the L version is lighter at 13 kg for fuel station work. Apex supplies these units in Lebanon, trains SMARTFLEX installers to use them and can arrange servicing.

Automatic multifunction welding unit: common questions
- Can the multifunction unit record pressure tests?
- Yes. It has a pressure test mode with eight memories of 500 parameters each, used with the 00SENS pressure test unit, and stores the results with the weld records.
- Which model should a fuel station installer choose?
- Forecourt SMARTFLEX lines are mostly 32 to 110 mm, which the 20 to 160 mm 00E9001L covers at 13 kg. The 00E9001 and 00E9001HW are for larger pipe up to 630 mm and 1000 mm.
- What happens if a fitting barcode cannot be read?
- Welding time and voltage can be entered by hand from the keypad.
