Franklin APT XP flexible fuel pipework

Overview

APT® XP is Franklin's flexible alternative to semi-rigid pipe. Its fuel layer is Nylon 12 and contains no polyethylene. The secondary contained version builds eight layers around it, alternating Nylon 12 with a nylon braid and metallised and clear Mylar barriers, finished with a secondary jacket and an outer scuff guard. That gives double-wall protection in one direct-bury pipe that still bends to a 36" (3 ft) radius at every diameter, and it does not delaminate.

XP pipe comes in 1½", 1¾" and 2" secondary contained sizes, plus a 2" single-wall pipe. The 1¾" size is unusual in the market and gives more flow than 1½" without the cost of 2" pipe. Long runs are pulled straight off pre-loaded master reels of 250 or 500 ft or super master reels of up to 1,500 ft. Between dispensers, 1¾" and 2" sticks of 28 ft or 33 ft arrive straight with no reel memory. Each stick is factory pressure tested, with a pre-cut back end that Franklin says can cut installation time by as much as 50%, and they ship 15 to a wheeled crate.

The pipe is UL 971 listed for pressure and suction use with gasoline, diesel, ethanol blends up to E85 and biodiesel up to B100. Thread-on fittings mean no glued joints and no drying time before pressure testing.

Apex supplies and installs APT® XP pipework in Lebanon, with the fittings, entry boots and test boots needed to finish each run.

Questions

APT® XP Flexible Pipework: common questions

What bend radius does XP pipe allow?
36" (3 ft) for every diameter, single wall or secondary contained.
Can XP pipe be used for suction systems?
Yes. Franklin rates XP pipework for both pressure and suction applications.
Why use stick pipe?
