Franklin APT XP pipe clamshell fitting

Overview

Flexible pipe is only as good as its end connections. Franklin's XP fittings clamp onto the pipe end and finish in a standard NPT thread or flange, so the run connects to locally sourced termination fittings, shear valves or flexible connectors. All share an integrated double O-ring seal, a 100 psi rated working pressure and cULus listing. The stainless steel versions are approved for E85 and biodiesel.

The clamshell swivel fitting is the general-purpose choice, in brass or stainless steel for 1½", 1¾" and 2" pipe. It rotates to ease alignment in tight sumps, and its e-coated clamps resist corrosion. A non-swivel clamshell covers 1" pipe at lower cost, and stainless swage fittings make the same seal by swaging. For narrow-base dispenser sumps, the stainless clamshell tee and elbow connect XP pipe straight into a shear valve riser with no galvanised nipples. Franklin says a complete connection fits in under 16" of linear space. Quick release fittings end in a 2" flange that takes a standard flexible connector clamp and gasket, so the pipe can be uncoupled from the pump for service.

To prove the double wall, split test boots (SPTB-150, -175 and -200) hinge around pipe already in place and clamp between the primary and secondary layers. Their Schrader valve takes 5-8 psi of air for an interstitial test. The boots can stay fitted for future tests or move on to the next site.

Apex supplies and fits XP fittings and test boots in Lebanon as part of APT® pipework projects.
