Defender Series® Spill Containers and Multiport Manways

Defender Series spill containers are Franklin's main 5-gallon spill buckets for underground tank fill points. They catch the product that drips when the delivery hose is disconnected, so it goes back to the tank instead of into the ground. Two layouts are offered. Grade level containers sit about 1" above the slab with a concrete ring, a snow plough ring and a gasketed cast iron lid, housed in a ribbed rotomoulded PE gravel guard. Below grade containers sit under a flush 18" fiberglass composite manway with a gasketed lock-down cover, protected by a solid steel skirt.

Both can be double wall. The interstitial space is checked either with a visual float-gauge monitor during monthly walk-round inspections or with an electronic sensor that alarms through an automatic tank gauge; a grade level single wall version is also made. A drain valve option, designed to CARB leak-rate requirements, returns spilt fuel to the tank, and the drop tube adapter gives a vapour-tight seal while letting the drop tube or overfill valve be lifted out easily. Containers can be upgraded from single to double wall without breaking concrete, and they exceed H20 and HS20 load standards.

Where several fill and vapour points share one tank top, the Defender Series multiport manway combines them into one watertight access point. It comes in 36" and 42" sizes with one, two or four single or double wall spill containers, under a cover with cam locks and a flared skirt that can be removed for inspection without breaking the vapour space. Bundled packages add a watertight sump shield and an overfill prevention valve. Apex supplies and installs Defender Series fill points.
