Overview
UPP® composite access covers are the European-style choice in Franklin's range, rated to EN124 rather than the American H20 standard. Both the lid and the frame are made from advanced fiberglass composite, so there is no metal anywhere in the assembly to corrode. Franklin states the material resists petroleum, alcohols, diesel, salt and water, with only surface discolouration expected over the life of the cover, and that it will not warp, delaminate or spin out under vehicle loads.
Two opening sizes are made: a 900 mm (35") clear opening and a larger 1,060 mm (42") opening for bigger containment chambers. C250 versions suit areas with occasional vehicle traffic and D400 versions are made for full carriageway loads. An O-ring in the lid seals against the frame for a watertight joint, the tread has an embedded uni-directional aggregate for grip, and an integrated locking mechanism with key holds the lid down and deters unauthorised entry.
Dip models add an inspection port in the centre of the lid, so tank dipping or a quick check can be done without lifting the cover. Lifting handles and fiberglass skirts for OCH and TSM chambers are sold separately. Apex supplies UPP covers with UPP piping and chambers on Lebanese sites where EN-rated containment is specified.

UPP® Composite Access Covers: common questions
- What is the difference between C250 and D400?
- They are EN124 load classes. D400 covers are the heavier-duty option; both sizes of UPP cover are listed in the datasheet in C250 and D400 versions.
- Can the tank be dipped without lifting the cover?
- Yes, with a DIP model, which has an integrated inspection port at the centre of the lid.
- How much does the cover weigh?
- Per the datasheet, the 900 mm cover weighs 75 lbs (34 kg) in C250 and 101 lbs (46 kg) in D400; the 1,060 mm cover weighs 93 lbs (42 kg) and 109 lbs (49 kg).
