EBW® Composite Manways
SAFE-LITE FRC covers from 12" to 42", life-tested under 20,000 lb loads

Overview
EBW® composite manways use SAFE-LITE fiber reinforced composite (FRC) covers. They are aimed at the same problem as other composite lids: a steel cover that is too heavy to lift safely. Franklin states the FRC covers weigh almost one-third less than steel, which cuts the risk of back injuries when a sump is opened, makes access quicker, and lowers the cost of shipping them.
The test record behind these covers is specific. They are engineered and tested to meet or exceed H20 and HS20 load ratings and have been loaded to 20,000 lbs without failure. Franklin also ran a 30-year life simulation of 11,000 loading cycles at 20,000 lbs each, which is the kind of repeated wheel traffic a busy forecourt sees.
Under the cover is a 14 gauge steel skirt with a skirt ring of 1/4" rolled angle iron, intended for the heaviest traffic. Sizes are 12", 30", 36" and 42", which covers small fill and monitoring points as well as full dispenser and tank sumps. Covers can be bolted, non-bolted or slide-on, all come with handles, and other colours can be requested. For very busy sites, 36" and 42" models can be ordered with Aramid covers for added wear resistance. Apex supplies EBW composite manways in Lebanon where a steel-skirted composite cover suits the slab design.
