EBW® Monitoring Wells
Complete groundwater monitoring well hardware from lid to filter wrap

Overview
Monitoring wells let a station operator or regulator sample groundwater and soil vapour near the tanks to confirm nothing is leaking. They also have to be impossible to mistake for a fill point. EBW® monitoring well manways come in 8", 10" and 14" sizes with bolt-down cast iron lids, a watertight seal against surface contamination, and a heavy cast iron rim that stands up to forecourt traffic. Each lid carries a cast triangle and is cast with the words "Do Not Fill" and "Test Well" to meet API specifications.
Below the manway, Franklin supplies the rest of the well. Slotted screen pipe in 2", 4" and 6" lets groundwater pass through precision-cut horizontal slots that are smooth enough not to tear the filter sock; it must be installed with its bottom cap. A spun-bound polypropylene filter wrap rated at 250 microns, sold in 100' rolls, keeps fine soil out of the slots. At the top, a yellow cap plug expands inside the casing to form a vapour and watertight seal, with a captured-bolt lock and a moulded "Do Not Fill" and "Monitor Well" marking.
The same range includes a FLEX-ING™ probe access manhole that houses tank gauge electronics with isolation from backfill, and the 90037 probe cap kit: a 4" nylon T-handle cap with ½" cable bushing and composite adapter, CARB EVR Phase 1 certified. Apex installs monitoring wells as part of tank installations in Lebanon.

Questions
EBW® Monitoring Wells: common questions
- How are monitoring wells kept from being filled by mistake?
- The cast iron lid carries a cast triangle with "Do Not Fill" and "Test Well", and the yellow cap plug is moulded with "Do Not Fill" and "Monitor Well".
- Does the screen pipe need a filter wrap?
- Yes. Franklin intends the screen pipe to be installed with filter wrap and its bottom cap, so fine soil cannot bypass or block the slots.
