Elaflex PSB 16 double closing pump safety break

Overview

Not every dispenser can take its safety break at the nozzle. On 'high hose' dispensers, where the hose drops from an overhead outlet, the PSB 16 goes on the dispenser's rigid pipe instead, or between two hose assemblies as a hose break. Unlike a nozzle break, it closes on both halves when it parts, so fuel stops at both ends.

Elaflex designs the PSB 16 to EN 13617-2 as a reusable unit for petrol and diesel, blends with ethanol or biodiesel included. Flow is limited to 80 l/min and pressure to 3.5 bar, the ambient range is -20 °C to +55 °C, and a straight or angled pull of 650 N to 1500 N makes it part. The aluminium body holds fuel-resistant plastic inner parts with FKM and NBR seals. At about 80.5 mm long, 43 mm across and 0.135 kg it is compact enough for tight outlets, and the BS 16 sleeve protects the breakaway part.

Part numbers name the two threads with digits: 0 is 1" BSP male, 1 is 1" BSP female, 3 is ¾" NPT female, 4 is ¾" BSP female, 5 is 1" NPT female, 7 is ¾" BSP male, 8 is ¾" NPT male and 9 is 1" NPT male. So a PSB 16.1x0 has a 1" BSP female and a 1" BSP male end. A version with a built-in glass window, the SG-PSB 16, can also carry a flow propeller. Each unit is factory tested with a serial number and Data Matrix Code. Apex supplies and fits PSB 16 breaks in Lebanon.

Questions

PSB 16 pump safety break: common questions

Where is the PSB 16 installed?
Directly on the dispenser's rigid outlet pipe, or between two hose assemblies as a hose break. It suits high hose dispensers in particular.
How do I read a PSB 16 part number?
The two digits after '16.' give the two threads. For example 1 means 1" BSP female and 0 means 1" BSP male, so PSB 16.1x0 has one of each.
Does the PSB 16 close on both sides?
Yes. It is a double closing break, so fuel stops on both ends when it separates.
