Sight glasses SG
Let customers see clean, bubble-free fuel, from the nozzle or the dispenser.
Overview
A sight glass gives the driver and the attendant a window into the fuel line. They can see that delivery is bubble-free and check the fuel's colour, which matters when a station sells premium grades. Elaflex's SG range is DN 25 and type-approved by TÜV to EN 13617-1, and fits gasoline and diesel to EN 228 and EN 590, including ethanol and biodiesel blends.
Where it goes depends on the version. The SG 1" sits between the nozzle swivel and the hose fitting and is made in several BSP and NPT thread pairs. The SG 1" M 34 Al has metric threads at both ends and fits between the nozzle body and the swivel, so it matches whatever thread the hose has, which makes it easy to retrofit. Either can also be mounted on the dispenser, and both work in either flow direction. SG-COAX is the vapour recovery version: it fits between a ZVA Slimline 2 GR (or another Stage II nozzle) and the COAX hose swivel, with POM inner parts and a vapour hose tail. For the ZVA 32 there is the larger SG 1½" Al.
Bodies are coated aluminium with an impact-resistant synthetic glass insert. They are rated to 10 bar, from -25 °C to +55 °C, and marked with type, standard and date code. Every SG can have a propeller (about 2.5 g) that spins to show the flow, and the propeller unit EA 655 can be added later; with a propeller fitted, the glass must point in the marked flow direction. Elaflex asks for regular visual checks and replacement if the glass is damaged or clouded. Apex supplies and fits Elaflex sight glasses in Lebanon.

Sight glasses SG: common questions
- Which sight glass should I choose for an existing nozzle?
- The SG 1" M 34 Al has metric threads on both ends and fits between the nozzle body and the swivel, so it suits any hose thread and is the easiest retrofit.
- Does a sight glass slow down fuelling?
- Only slightly. Elaflex measured average pressure drops of 10 to 30 mbar for the SG 1" Al on a ZVA Slimline 2 at 25 to 80 l/min.
- Can I add a propeller later?
- Yes. The propeller unit is sold separately as spare part EA 655. Once it is fitted, the sight glass must be installed in the marked flow direction.
